The Program at The Old Farmhouse is based on a combination of educational programs that I have used over the years, taking what I feel is the best from each program. There is a little of the Montessori approach, a little of the Emergent Curriculum, and a strong base from the Creative Curriculum. I believe in the importance of child directed activities, and creative play, but also I believe in routine and structure. To that end, our days follow a solid predictable routine which helps the children feel secure and stable. Then during learning play times, the children are encouraged to explore and create at their own speed and following their own interests. A typical day is as follows :
7 am-7:30 am - Children Arrive, easy free play and quiet activities.
7:30-8:00 am - Clean up and preparations for breakfast
8:00 -8:45 am - Breakfast and clean up
8:45-9:00 am - Circle Time- Calender, Weather, Songs and discussions.
